Fort Calhoun Nuclear Power Station (FCNPS) is a decommissioned nuclear power plant located in Washington County, Nebraska, United States. The plant was owned and operated by Omaha Public Power District (OPPD). FCNPS was a single-unit boiling water reactor (BWR) with a net electrical output of 478 megawatts (MW).
FCNPS played a critical role in providing clean, reliable, and affordable electricity to the region. Over its lifetime, the plant generated over 120 billion kilowatt-hours (kWh) of electricity, enough to power over 10 million homes for a year. FCNPS also helped to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by displacing fossil fuel-fired generation.
