The Mason County Humane Society is a non-profit organization dedicated to the care and well-being of animals in our community. Our mission is to provide shelter, medical care, and adoption services for homeless and abandoned animals, while also working to prevent animal cruelty and promote responsible pet ownership.
Animal homelessness is a serious problem in the United States, with an estimated 6.3 million cats and dogs entering animal shelters nationwide each year. According to the Humane Society of the United States, approximately 3.1 million of these animals are euthanized due to lack of adoption or other placement options.
In Mason County, the problem is no less severe. In 2022 alone, over 5,000 animals were brought to our shelter. Of those, only about 60% were adopted or reunited with their families.
The Mason County Humane Society provides a wide range of services to help animals in need:
Our shelter provides temporary housing for homeless and abandoned animals. We offer a safe and comfortable environment where animals can receive care and socialization while waiting for adoption.
Animals in our care receive comprehensive medical care, including vaccinations, deworming, spaying or neutering, and treatment for any injuries or illnesses.
We work tirelessly to find loving homes for every animal in our care. We conduct thorough adoption screenings to ensure that animals are placed in homes that are well-suited to meet their needs.
In addition to our adoption and medical services, we also offer a variety of preventative care and education programs. These programs include:
