Morristown Hamblen Hospital traces its roots back to 1922, when a group of local citizens founded the Morristown Hospital Association. The hospital was originally located in a small building on West Main Street. In 1928, the hospital moved to its current location on West Sixth North Street.

In 1955, the hospital opened a new wing that included a modern operating room and recovery room. In 1967, the hospital opened a new emergency department. In 1983, the hospital opened a new intensive care unit.

In 2007, Morristown Hamblen Hospital became part of Covenant Health, a not-for-profit health system that serves East Tennessee and Southwest Virginia. Covenant Health has invested heavily in Morristown Hamblen Hospital, helping to expand its services and improve its facilities.
