Ray Allen is a retired American professional basketball player who played 18 seasons in the National Basketball Association (NBA). He is widely considered one of the greatest shooters in NBA history. Allen was a 10-time NBA All-Star, a two-time NBA champion, and a one-time NBA Three-Point Contest champion.
Ray Allen was born in Merced, California, on July 20, 1975. He began playing basketball at an early age and quickly developed a reputation as a sharpshooter. Allen attended Hillcrest High School in Dalzell, South Carolina, where he led the Rams to two state championships.
After graduating from high school, Allen attended the University of Connecticut. He was a key player on the Huskies' 1999 NCAA championship team. Allen was selected by the Milwaukee Bucks with the fifth overall pick in the 1996 NBA draft.
Allen played for the Bucks, Seattle SuperSonics, Boston Celtics, and Miami Heat during his NBA career. He was a consistent scorer and a deadly three-point shooter. Allen was also a good defender and rebounder.
Allen was a key member of the Celtics' 2008 NBA championship team. He was also a key member of the Heat's 2012 and 2013 NBA championship teams.
Allen retired from the NBA after the 2013-14 season. He finished his career with averages of 18.9 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 3.4 assists per game. Allen was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2018.
